Adapting in real time to support Ukrainian civilians

Looking ahead in Ukraine

WCK acts with the urgency of now. We were among the first organizations to step up and support Ukrainians impacted by Russia’s full-scale invasion and our operations scaled quickly out of overwhelming need throughout the country. WCK has provided hundreds of millions of meals in Ukraine and seven other countries where refugees fled in search of safety. By engaging communities and focusing on locally led efforts, we have continually adapted to ensure we provide the support communities require.
With more aid organizations now present in large population centers, WCK teams are able to focus on supporting the most isolated, at risk, and hardest-hit regions of the country. Food needs are shifting as the conflict enters a new phase, so we are prioritizing efforts aimed at supporting communities caught between the fighting to provide nourishing meals to the people who need them most—as soon and safely as possible. Today, lack of consistent access to food impacts specific regions, most in the east and south along the frontline where fighting rages on. WCK, through our Emergency Response Team, is meeting the most pressing needs of families living through some of the darkest times imaginable.

SUPPORT OUR EFFORTS
Svitlana and Inna are two WCK team members and Food Fighters in Kharkiv who show up day in and day out to support their fellow Ukrainians. Learn how they work to ensure meals reach families in need.
By car, by foot, and by boat, WCK is reaching people impacted by the Kakhovka dam disaster. We are seeing neighbors come together to help one another. Read some of their stories of hope and strength.
Quote from Svitlana, WCK's Kharkiv food kit coordinator:: "Through our work, people know they are not alone. I feel that I am part of a great mission and I understand that I am not living in vain."
