When we reflect on the past three years working hand-in-hand with Ukrainian communities and partners, it’s clear that not only have we had an impact on Ukraine, but this community has made a lasting impact on WCK, our model, and our role in crisis response around the world.
"The evolution of our efforts in Ukraine reflects a new reality for all of us in disaster response," said WCK CEO Erin Gore. "‘Crisis’ or ‘disaster’ is no longer just a momentary surge of need—it’s often a prolonged, complex challenge. Meeting these challenges requires agility and a model anchored in local communities."
Now, as we enter the fourth year of our #ChefsForUkraine efforts, we are proud to announce Yuliya Stefanyuk as our new response director. When WCK Founder José Andrés met Yuliya shortly after Russia launched its full-scale invasion, he asked if she could help feed 100,000 Ukrainians. She said yes. Since then, Yuliya has played a key role in shaping our efforts. Those 100,000 meals grew into hundreds of millions over the past three years. |
