WCK food supply trucks now entering Gaza WCK trucks loaded with food and water are now reaching the team in Gaza. We are delivering the desperately needed aid to Anera—our partner on the ground—who is distributing the items to thousands of Palestinians displaced by the conflict. Through these first WCK convoys, we provided enough canned goods and ingredients, including vegetables and flour, to prepare tens of thousands of meals. Getting humanitarian aid into Gaza has been extremely restricted and food assistance has so far focused on ready-to-eat items. Alongside our partners, we have already provided more than 1 million hot meals in Gaza. Our trucks are delivering water, flour, yeast, canned vegetables, lentils, rice, oil, sardines, tuna, and serving containers. We are also providing specially designed wood and charcoal stoves, along with the fuel needed to power them, so our partners can increase hot meal production. Our team opted for these stoves as fuels like propane are not allowed in humanitarian shipments into Gaza.  We are now also working with the Middle East Children's Alliance (MECA) to scale up our food kit distribution efforts. WCK’s Oakland-based Chef Corps member Reem Assil helped us connect with MECA. Through the organization, we are able to support families who fled their homes to seek shelter with relatives.    The first delivery through our partnership with MECA included boxes of fresh produce, hygiene kits, and sage, which is being used as a home remedy to alleviate stomach illnesses among children. Common medications have become inaccessible for countless Palestinian families and home remedies like this offer some relief.    Every day, our partners in Gaza are risking their lives to deliver humanitarian aid. While MECA was packing this recent batch of food kits, a blast near the warehouse sent shrapnel flying across the area, injuring several team members and damaging produce. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries. Despite what was an incredibly terrifying moment, the team proceeded packing and delivering hundreds of food kits. The amazingly brave people of Gaza are showing up to support neighbors enduring the darkest moments imaginable. We are closely monitoring progress of aid into Gaza and our team in Egypt is working tirelessly to source the goods needed by Palestinians and others trapped in conflict.    Learn more about our efforts throughout the region here.
