WCK Serving 5 Million Ramadan Meals

How WCK is Helping Families in Gaza & Lebanon Break their Fast this Ramadan

Families around the world are gathering to observe Ramadan, a time of reflection, prayer, and shared meals. But for many in Gaza and Lebanon, the simple act of breaking fast together is a challenge in the face of continuing crisis. World Central Kitchen is working to close that gap and offer meals, comfort, and hope. Since October 2023, we have served more than 135 million meals in Gaza and Lebanon. This Ramadan, we aim to serve five million more.

For people like Abeer, who is living in a displacement camp, observing Ramadan traditions is deeply meaningful. In Gaza, our large-scale Field Kitchens in southern and central Gaza, along with restaurant partners in the north, are preparing tens of thousands of meals daily. Our kitchens are adjusting cooking and distribution times to align with iftar and suhoor, so that families in need can observe Ramadan traditions.

WCK's Ramadan food kits help families like Abeer's preserve their traditions during the holy month.

We are also providing families with WCK Ramadan boxes with enough food for 55 meals. The meal boxes—filled with essentials like lentils and dates—help families gather for iftar, the evening meal that breaks the fast, and suhoor, the pre-dawn meal before fasting begins, with culturally appropriate, halal food.

Beyond immediate relief, we are also planting seeds for the future—literally. Many Palestinians long to grow their own food again, and WCK is helping to make that possible. We are distributing thousands of seed packets containing vegetables like okra, eggplant, and onion—staples in local cuisine. By supporting small-scale farming and families in displacement camps, we aim to restore not just access to food, but also autonomy and resilience.

In Lebanon, where more than 100,000 people are displaced by the crisis, WCK is serving tens of thousands of hot meals every day. Our partner kitchens are filled with Lebanese flavors, offering a connection to home. WCK is making sure that Lebanese communities are not forgotten.

Like in Gaza, WCK teams in Lebanon are also preparing special Ramadan boxes. Each box includes comforting traditional meals like taouk—a flavorful chicken dish—so families can gather and share. We are also providing dates, commonly eaten at iftar for a quick energy boost after a day of fasting.

Compassion knows no bounds. This Ramadan, every warm meal WCK serves is a reminder to families that they are not alone.

Our work in Gaza and Lebanon is certified Zakat-eligible. Rest assured that 100% of your donation will go directly towards feeding families in Gaza and Lebanon.
