Gaza Team Hits 300,000 Daily Meal Milestone

World Central Kitchen has reached a first milestone on our road to serving 1 million meals daily in Gaza: 300,000 hot meals and 120,000 loaves of bread each day. Over the past month, we've steadily scaled up from 90,000, and the current daily total is more than we were serving before being forced to halt operations in late July.
This is possible thanks to the tireless efforts of teams at our Field Kitchens, our network of Community Kitchens, and restaurant partners. Our teams are pushing to expand further, with the goal of reaching 1 million meals daily if enough supplies and fuel are allowed in.

WCK Responds to Deadly Afghanistan Quake

Our Relief Team is working with longtime partner Instant Aid to serve meals to families impacted by the deadly 6.0 magnitude earthquake that rocked eastern Afghanistan. The late August earthquake caused injuries and fatalities, displaced families, and left many without access to food and water. Instant Aid has established a kitchen in Nurgal, a community near the epicenter, and is serving meals to the community. Access to water remains a challenge. Since Thursday, we have scaled up from serving 1,000 daily meals to 8,000 meals for impacted residents and patients at medical facilities.

Pakistan Flooding Forces 500K+ People to Flee

WCK’s Relief Team is working with Rizq—a Pakistani nonprofit—in the country's eastern Punjab province as the worst monsoon floods to hit the region in 40 years have forced more than 500,000 people to flee their homes. An estimated 3.3 million people are impacted across the province.

Our team on the ground has established a kitchen at a local events hall to prepare nourishing meals. On the first day, the kitchen served chicken biryani, a local staple. In addition, we are distributing thousands of food kits with enough ingredients to feed a family of four for 22 days.

Rizq helped us respond to the 2022 floods in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh provinces that impacted at least 33 million people. Establishing kitchens in both provinces, we worked together to distribute more than 77,000 meals and 5,000 food kits across hard-hit villages.

Local Knowledge & Flavors Drive Efforts in Haiti

Mirana first met WCK while picking up meals in Verrettes, Haiti, where violence and instability have left many families without reliable access to food. Today, she is part of our team, drawing on her experience as a market vendor to help source local ingredients. Her efforts ensure meals are prepared with the freshest produce while supporting steady income for local food producers. Watch the video below to hear from Mirana.

Ukraine Team Responds as Attacks Intensify

In the past three weeks, WCK’s team in Ukraine has responded to more than 25 Russian attacks, delivering hot meals, sandwiches, and water to families and first responders in hard-hit areas. As the latest Russian offensive intensifies, Kyiv and Lviv were the targets of one of the largest aerial assaults of the war. WCK teams mobilized immediately, serving more than 1,300 meals to stranded train passengers and ensuring people had nourishment and comfort amid the chaos.
In Kyiv, our team met Yevhen, a 98 year old man who spent his career as an engineer and metro worker in the Ukrainian capital. He was in bed when a missile struck his home. WCK served him and his neighbors hot meals like a hearty chicken and buckwheat dish, ensuring that Yevhen did not go through the crisis alone.
