WCK's innovative restaurant model uplifts Ukraine's economy

WCK restaurant model uplifts local economy

WCK built a network of restaurants in Ukraine that spanned the entire country, providing millions of meals to people in need. By paying local restaurants to cook fresh meals, we provided food to people impacted by Russia’s full-scale invasion and kept these businesses open and their teams working. Today, acute food needs in Ukraine have shifted to newly liberated and frontline communities and many of our restaurant partners in other parts of the country have reopened to the general public, buoyed by the support they received from WCK. Watch the video below to learn some of their stories.
Many restaurants remain invaluable partners, helping our Emergency Response Team provide food as quickly as possible to civilians impacted by Russian attacks. By supporting our work, you’re helping us bring nourishing meals to the Ukrainian families who need them most while also uplifting the local economy. Now, five generous WCK donors are matching gifts for our efforts in Ukraine. Through the generosity of Dorothea and Jon Bon Jovi, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy and First Lady Tammy Murphy, alongside other dedicated and visionary New Jersey donors, every dollar pledged will be matched up to $150,000 and the Abram and Ray Kaplan Foundation will match up to $50,000 to support our work.
DONATE TODAY, DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT
WCK has established regional teams across Ukraine capable of meeting the complex needs of communities. We invite you to see what a typical day of work looks like through the eyes of our team in Kherson.
Since the war started, many Ukrainians have been unable to grow their own food in home garden. Now, plots across Ukraine are once again bursting with fruits and vegetables grown from WCK-provided seeds.
The needs of Ukrainians shift quickly, and WCK’s field monitors work daily to ensure we meet changing needs. Meet three of our field monitors, who describe how compassion and hope are critical parts of their role.
