WCK responds to attack on Ukrainian hospital

WCK responds to Dnipro hospital attack

In the early hours of Friday, Russia launched a barrage of missiles throughout Ukraine. In Dnipro, explosions were heard overnight and into the morning when the attacks destroyed a hospital, killing at least two people and injuring dozens more, including children. WCK’s Emergency Response Team was on the scene soon after the attack with sandwiches and warm drinks for first responders as they searched for survivors and extinguished flames caused by the blasts.

Families in Dnipro have been the target of constant, unimaginable attacks for nearly one year, including a missile strike in January that hit a residential building and killed dozens of people. Watch the video below to see how WCK supported residents and first responders following that horrific attack.

Ukraine through
the eyes of WCK's
Emergency
Response Team

Day after day, Russian missiles and rockets fall on cities and towns, further deteriorating access to food, water, and other necessities. Our teams continue adapting to these situations, and innovating new ways to provide meals, support, and hope to both frontline communities and neighborhoods far from the battlefields. Click below to see our work in Ukraine through the eyes of the WCK team members who bravely stand up every day to bring food and comfort to their neighbors in need.
Zhanna, WCK’s local emergency coordinator in Kyiv, was among the team members who responded to a late April missile attack in Uman that killed 23 people. When Zhanna arrived on the scene, she saw hundreds of residents waiting for news about their friends and relatives. Hundreds more rescue workers and emergency doctors worked tirelessly to save lives. Our team quickly set up a tent and began serving meals to people on site. Watch the video below to see Zhanna and the team in action—bringing hope, comfort, and love in the darkest hours.
